Denver Thornton - Managing Director

Denver started the business 24 years ago, having previously worked for his Father from leaving school.

After attending CITB training course in Salford he wanted to establish his own company based upon his skills learnt over 8 years in the trade.

His role is now involved in many aspects of the company, including health & safety (NEBOSH Level 2 Attainment in Occupational H & S) estimating, contract planning, marketing, personnel, technical & company policy decisions. His hands on approach & experience in every aspect of the business provides the skills & know how which set the company apart in being able to adapt quickly to the needs of the client & end users.

Joanna Thornton
– Financial Director

Joanna joined the company from its infancy over twenty years ago, & her role is crucial in many aspects, not just the day to day administration, but financial planning, order procurement, staff & HR as well as office management. Her drive & commitment has been pivotal in the company’s turnover more than doubling in size in since 2011.

Joanna’s involvement in the company achieving “investors in people” award in 2010 provides an insight into her vision of the company’s continuing development.

Wayne Calderbank
– Operations Director

Wayne became a director after being employed with the company for over 10 years, it was clear that his work ethic & uncompromising approach to quality meant that his elevation to the board of directors became inevitable. Being the link between site personnel & management, his involvement to the company’s future progress is fundamental.

Neil Gorton
– Apprentice Mentor

Neil’s patience & understanding are character traits that are relied upon by both trainees & management alike, his experience within the flooring trade & Diamond flooring rubs off on apprentices, so that they can understand the values & standards that the company have come to expect from all our employees, & is why the company continues to grow.

Mark Riley
– Estimator

Working with the Managing Director, Mark’s position is critical to winning contracts, his ability to quantify, specify & cost work has seen the company expand to twice its size in 3 years. Mark works closely with several staff members to ensure contracts are delivered on time, to clients expectations & within budget.

Sue Taylor
– Accounts manager

Through the difficult trading years of the recession, Sue has worked closely with the Financial Director to keep suppliers, clients & company partners abreast of all financial information that provides stability & security for the company helping it grow despite very tough trading conditions.

Our Installers

The company management are well aware that Diamond Flooring’s reputation is based upon its ability to deliver a quality service that can be relied upon. For this to happen consistently, it is our on-site personnel that the company rely on most. This is why the company is proud to produce installers from apprenticeships as well as hiring permanent staff that we can invest in with training & equipment rather than using temporary subcontract labour, this on-going policy has served the company well over many years.


All of our suppliers are vetted by us on an annual basis prior to any orders being placed, so that we are satisfied that orders for goods placed by ourselves will arrive on time, in good condition, at the best price & are quality materials that support the guarantee’s that we supply to our clients. Having been established for over 25yrs we think we have a fair knowledge of the best companies to work with, including manufacturers, suppliers & partners. We rely upon their knowledge & systems, which in turn provides them with an opportunity to trade with an established company they can trust & deal with on a day to day basis.
